Rent Deposit Bond Scheme

It can be difficult for people on low income to find a deposit for a private let.  Staffordshire Moorlands District Council's Rent Deposit Bond Scheme helps enable people to access accommodation in the private rented sector through the provision of a paper bond, in place of a cash deposit.

Benefits for Landlords:

  • The tenant will have access to a support worker to provide tenancy support and assist them to maintain their tenancy
  • A guaranteed Bond should there be damage or rent arrears during the 18 months, up to the maximum of 1 months rent
  • Advice on rights and responsibilities involved in letting a Property for both Tenant and Landlord
  • May be eligible for a 'landlord Accreditation Grant' of up to 2000

Criteria to Qualify:

  • Over 18 and accepted as homeless or threatened with homelessness
  • Willing to accept support to help maintain the tenancy
  • Able to afford the property
  • Willing to save the cash deposit during the 18 months
  • Currently living in the Staffordshire moorlands
  • Not an existing Housing Association tenant
  • Home [accesskey-1]
  • Index
  • Documents
